In celebration of the Three Penny Taproom’s First Anniversary, on Saturday, May 1, 2010 the Taproom will host the First Annual “Montbeerlier Festival”. Montbeerlier will be held under a tent in the Onion River Sports parking lot on Langdon Street, Montpelier from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Along with house-made sausages on the grill and live music from Primate Fiasco from 6:00-8:30, the main attraction will be approximately 12 different cask conditioned beers (or “firkins”).
Breweries expected to be represented include Vermont breweries Lawson’s Finest Liquids of Warren, Hill Farmstead of Greensboro, Otter Creek of Middlebury, and Trapp Family of Stowe; Stone Brewery of California, Smuttynose Brewery of New Hampshire, and Allagash Brewery of Maine, among others, will be providing casks as well. Several of the casks for the event have described by the breweries as “extra special”, with a number of one of a kind casks expected.
“We wanted to celebrate our first year anniversary, not only for ourselves and our absolutely incredible staff, but in a way that could show our appreciation to the tremendous support that Central Vermont and the entire New England craft beer community has given us over the past 12 months” said co-owner Wes Hamilton, “what better way to celebrate is there than with a cask beer festival?” Added co-owner Scott Kerner, “Montbeerlier- the word is French in origin, and roughly translates into ‘mountain of really good beer’.”
Throughout the festivities, just around the corner the Three Penny Taproom will remain open for its regular hours, 1:00 pm to 2:00 am with 23 craft beers on draught and 45 different bottle choices.
